Top Artifact 5: Module 7 Archive

In the module 7 archive we had a do a questionnaire about our attitudes and behaviors as a student and as a functioning member of society. We were asked questions like: “I read all the materials before class.” or “Recycling is a great way to protect the environment.” The questions were random but what I like most about the assignment was that it was a nice way to get real with yourself. Visually looking a controversial question and reflecting on how you truly feel. I also learned that just because you feel strongly about an opinion, it doesn’t mean that you act upon it. For example, I put that recycling is important for the environment but I don’t recycle.

Top Artifact 4: Module 3 Archive

In the module 3 archive we had recruit a couple of people to answer statements about how people view attraction. I personally like this assignment because this coincides with my thoughts as a future marriage and family therapist. Throughout module three, there have been debates coming from social psychologists about attraction. Similarity vs. Opposites. Then for a visual representation we had to write down songs lyrics that represent if we personally think that similarity leads to attraction or if opposites attraction. My opinion was that opposite attract. (Song and lyrics pictured below.)

Top Artifact 3: Module 6 Archive

In the module 6 archive we had to write about our self in multiple social scenarios. We had to list five character traits that define us and then describe the scenarios that accentuates the character traits we wrote down. The character traits I wrote down were: humorous, kind, sensitive, impulsive, and helpful. I wrote down each scenario regarding that trait and then I have to determine whether my behavior was consistent. I liked this assignment because this gives me an opportunity to reflect on how I behavior and determine on whether I want this behavior to be consistent. I have come to the conclusion that I the character traits I described were me to the T! I love being me and doing this assignment helped me realize how much a wonderful person I am.

Top Artifact 2: Module 12 Archive

In the module 12 archive we had to highlight statements that represented aggression. We also had to determine was truly aggression. From this assignment I learned that aggression is hostile or violent behavior or attitudes toward another; readiness to attack or confront. I learned that being aggressive does not only mean physical harm to a living being. Aggression can also be toward non-living things and it can also be premeditated thoughts.

I picked this picture of two dogs fighting over a bone because it symbolizes aggression. Two living-beings getting ready to inflict harm on each other because they’re hungry.

Top Artifact 1: Module 8 Archive

My favorite archive of the semester was the module 8 archive. In the module 8 archive we have to put two adjectives we people form different countries and different ethnicities. We also had to compare our results with past trials from Katz and Braly (1933) and Gilbert (1951). The reason why I feel so heavily about the assignment is because of the stereotype that was place upon Black people. I wrote that Black people were artistic yet quick-tempered. Katz and Braly (1933) wrote that Black people were superstitious and lazy while Gilbert (1951) were superstitious and musical. It was a slight improvement from the results in 1933. However, I was still offended. I think that since the 30s and 50s Black people have contributed so much to modern day society. As a Black person I feel like we are getting recognized for our contributions but we are not getting rewarded for all the good we do in society. I loved this assignment because I love talking about how Black people are beautiful.
