Throughout this semester, I think my writing growth has increased drastically since the beginning of the year. I feel so far, the class UNIV 150 has helped me improve the way I write. I still seem to have a small problem with staying on the topic based on the prompt. When writing an essay or a paper, I want to go into deep detail, so sometimes it drifts me away from the main topic. I also struggle with reading over my essay or paper after I revise it. Once I go over the corrections made on my draft, I make the alterations and automatically think it is done without going over it. It is a bad habit, I plan on breaking away from it though. The lesson that was personally the most helpful was learning about the different point of views. In high school, I was exposed to the different types but never knew how they were supposed to be used. The editing skills checklist benefitted my writing growth because it gave me an idea of how my essay or paper should be formatted and what the professor is expecting. Being assigned essays as a grade made it mandatory for me to practice on my writing. Writing was never my strong suit or something that I liked to it, so I try to avoid it as much as possible. Now writing an essay is basically a routine, especially being in college, it is becoming easier to get it done efficiently and faster. Although in UNIV 150 we are not assigned a lot of essays, the professor allows us more than enough time to go through and revise our essays to improve it. I rather have few essays assigned so I can work through it carefully than cramming multiple essays due every week.
