Internship Reflection Paper 3

on

In  the final coming weeks of my internship, I feel as though I am gaining a little bit more responsibility. My Supervisor has me working with the Auditing team for the next round of audits going on at the Library of Virginia, and I am very excited. There is also an internship showcase coming up, where I must present a culmination of the things I have done and learned while working at the Library of Virginia as an Information Security Intern. That’s going to be my closing assignment here at LVA. Most recently, I have completed a well made Security Analysis and Evaluation of a cloud service provider per one of my assigned tasks. I chose to look into Amazon’s most common cloud service, Amazon EC2. This has been one of the more fun parts of my internship, as I researched and found different ways to find information using Amazon’s Whitepapers, which gave much information on the security and how Amazon uses a shared responsibility model with its clients. It was quite interesting and made me fascinated in Cloud Security in the way I might concentrate on it during my Cybersecurity career. In terms of morale, I feel less and less like my work matters at the internship because I see my supervisor very little and my work only benefits me and not the Library of Virginia. I’m doing my best and sometimes I become unsure if my supervisor looks at my work. I plan on touching base with her as soon as possible in hopes that everything is going well and my work is at least satisfactory let alone on the right path. Hopefully this changes and I am to be more involved on the LVA’s IT projects. I will say though the IT Staff has given me valuable advice regarding certification advice and making my mark in the IT field. One of my coworkers actually has his own IT business on the side, and gave me fresh insight into how to start my own.
