Over the semester I have defiantly changed the way I feel and how I look at college. I’ve grown to learn to trust yourself and the feelings you have towards how people. I have learned that it’s okay to change your mind multiple times to find what major fits you. I’ve learned to chase your dreams and push to inspire other people. This semester didn’t turn out the way I had planned it, I met new people and found a new different type of freedom that when I was in high school, I didn’t have. About fourteen weeks ago I wish I knew don’t underestimate the workload and don’t be afraid to cancel plans to study and push yourself to learn new study habits and expect our people help when it comes to a subject that you don’t understand that well. Now that I knew that expectations for the classes and how the semester and the professors teach and the amount work, they give out.
In the beginning of the semester, I spent only a couple hours studying, but now I spend at least six hours after I get home from school studying for each class that I have. My study habits aren’t the same as they were in the beginning of the year. I used to have note cards and just reread over all the material that we learned. But now I rewrite all my notes. I learned that writing my notes again has helped me memorize them the information better. So this semester I really didn’t use any of like the student resources that we have. But next semester I will use the chemistry tutoring because the study group that I’m in now aren’t taking chemistry next semester. Next semester I also plan on rewriting all my notes and occasionally using notecards to study like formulas or definitions. Well, since I’m in the learning community, each class had a different events or assignment that tied the learning and living communities’ theme together. Like for Chemistry we had to write several papers on the Flint Michigan water supply tragedy. And for sociology we went to the Chrysler Museum and looked at several pieces of art.
I think one of the events that was most beneficial to me is the health professionals’ class and learning so many different options for me to do in the medical field and not just my major is. It showed me so many opportunities that I could do minors or double majors. This class also showed me that I have a choice and should plan if my desire major doesn’t work out, that I will have a backup plan.
