The class I’m doing the best in is college algebra and I’m also doing well in Chemistry; those are the classes that I spend most of my time studying for because those were my classes that I had a feeling I was going to struggle with. And the class I’m not doing the best in is sociology because I haven’t spent much time studying for, I need to focus on understanding the information we are learning, the just trying to memorize it. I’m going to try to find real life problems to apply to the information we are learning in class.
Coming into college I thought that attendance wasn’t a big deal, but it is, and the student attending college would be more mature and there wasn’t going to be drama, but I was also wrong on that too. College isn’t really owning up to my opinion on the “college experience” I was hoping for. I think the biggest surprise to me was that people aren’t major and focused on school they are more focused on making friends and those people liking them than studying. Another big surprise to me would have to be the amount of studying there is involved in the amount of work the classes give you. I personally think the toughest think for not living on campus is the parking, there isn’t enough parking near campus, because Old Dominion has a lot of commuters, which causes so many people getting to school at the same time, this means I must come to school an hour before my first class to just get a parking spot. The easiest thing to overcome the cost of tuition because it doesn’t cost as much as living on campus. I learned more information about the classes I have to take and how to apply and what it takes to get into the program I recently just contacted the direct of the Nuclear Medicine program and we talked about her studying technique and about the job opportunities in that field of practice. The only thing that has changed is the passion that I have for the program and how it will impact the community. I am interest in learning more about getting about human services and help more with the community. I’ve made some good friends who are good in the classes I’m struggling in and help and teaching me different study habits, but I’ve also learned more that people aren’t who they say they are and haven’t changed from the high school pettiness. The club I am interested in is the Global Medicine Brigade, when I was in high school I went on a lot of missions trips and wanted to help people who couldn’t get the help they needed and this club gives me the opportunity to help people
