Protecting Availability

As the CISO of a publicly traded company, making sure our systems are always available is super important. Availability basically means that employees, customers, and investors can access our systems whenever they need to. To keep things running smoothly, I would start with regular automated backups. This way, if something goes wrong, we can restore the data fast without losing anything important.

I’d also use redundant servers and cloud services. If one server crashes, another one can immediately take over so nobody notices downtime. Network monitoring and intrusion detection would be another step. These tools let us catch problems, like hacks or server issues, before they actually mess up our systems.

I’d make a disaster recovery plan too, which explains exactly what everyone should do in an emergency, and I’d run practice drills so the team knows how to respond. Plus, keeping all software and systems up to date is key so bugs or security issues don’t cause outages.

By doing all this, we can prevent downtime, keep our company running smoothly, and make sure customers and investors can trust that our systems are reliable.
