Journal Summary Three
I have made very big strides this semester with my writing. Before this semester I never knew I had so many issues with my writing since I was always getting A’s on papers in school. My AP teachers never corrected the little things I do and only focused on the content in my essays. When I took the writing placement test I discovered that my writing weren’t as good as I thought and the issue was the use of punctuation, plural nouns, and my rambling in sentences. Since the beginning of this semester I have found ways to improve on my writing skills. One of the issues early on with my writing was writing to fast and not going back and re-reading my sentences. The first issue I fixed was my use of singular and plural nouns. I made an effort on my second essay and mid term to focus on this issue and it paid major dividends. I also fixed my rambling issue and focused on shorter better sentences. The sad part is that during this two essays I stilled had major issues with my punctuation skills. I still didn’t place my commas in the right spots or added them when I needed them. On my third essay I made it my mission to fix my issue of using commas and it worked great and I got an A on my essay. I slowed down and re-read my essay multiple times. This helped me improve and I made sure to put every comma where it needed to be. I feel that I am finally ready to take this final test. I have fixed the issues that plagued me when I first took the writing placement test. I feel like I will get a good grade on it and pass this class.
