The article talks about the structure and different functions of a business, and also talks about the function of the supply chain in the organization. It also talks about where IT fits into the organization, it explains that IT is built around organizations which is how it should be. IT being built around the organization allows for it to be created for organizations specific needs.

Other Components of a Business
The legal department of an organization’s job is to make sure the organization is following all the laws that are put in place for organizations. Supply Chain Management involves controlling the flow of materials to goods to finished items. Technical Support deals with customer issues that may arise from a problem that needs solving and questions that need answering. Public Relations handles interacting with the public to show information about the organization. Leadership’s job is to make sure every employee is working and to make sure that the organization is running smoothly.

IT In the Organizational scheme
IT is built around an organization’s structure, because it allows for the company to build around its specific needs and improvements. IT jobs usually involve working with computers and computer systems, they also may work as a tech support on computer specific problems. IT responsibilities involve having to make sure that computers and anything that involves networking is constantly working, they also make upgrades to the systems and they maintain maintenance on computers and servers. IT should be structured around the organization’s structure to allow for the company to utilize it in a cost efficient way, and to allow for the organization to implement it to their needs. IT is a very important part of organizations that keep them running and protected, but not every organization or company utilizes the IT department like smaller businesses. So it’s good for IT to be built around the organization so that it can be used for their respective needs.

Nike Supply Chain
Based on the image of the shoes, the materials that are used are: fabric, plastic, rubber, foam, and leather. Fabric raw materials usually involve wool, silk, or polyester. Plastic is made from petroleum and rubber is also made from petroleum. Foam is made from chemicals MDI and TDI, and leather is from cows and pigs mainly. If I was at Nike I would first consult with the supply chain department and find cost efficient ways to get products for cheaper and fast, then we would have to get the materials shipped to the factory so that the shoes can be assembled, after the everything is assembled on the shoes we would need to start shipping them off off to different retailers for sale. While all of that is happening we have to make sure that there is a constant stream of materials coming to keep up with the demand of the product.



Conclusion
Businesses have a lot of components that make up their organization, every business is different and they are structured differently. It’s very important for IT to be built around the organization’s structure to allow for the businesses to structure and use IT for their specific needs, since not every organization needs IT or needs the full use of IT, having it be structured around the organization structure makes it easier on the businesses. Supply Chain is a very important part of an organization that needs supply chains, without a well maintained supply chain any problem that may occur can cause a big loss for the business.
