Autonomy means self-governing body or entity. Academically I satisfy the need for autonomy through completion of my assignments on my own time within before the due date. I am also enrolled in two online classes which often require me to learn on my own through the materials that have been given to me or the materials I was required to purchase for the courses I am in. A also satisfy the need for autonomy academically through my time management skills when completing assignments for the different courses I am in, completing task for the organizations I am involved in as well as tasks while I am at work.

To be competent means one can complete tasks or duties efficiently. Academically, I believe I satisfy that need as well. Due to the fact that most of my courses are online, I have a lot of free time during the day to complete any tasks or assignments I have on my to-do list during the day. I have a strict schedule that I adhere to for work, assignment completion, organizations, as well as free time which has made things smoother for me so far this year.

Relatedness refers to the will to be connected with people and care for them. Academically, I am not sure I completely satisfy the need for relatedness. I choose to connect with certain groups and organizations; however, I do not believe it is a necessity for me. On the other hand, I am very caring, and caring for people other than myself is very satisfying for me whether it is for my peers, coworkers, and loved ones. Caring for others has become a passion for me, and I believe that it is my purpose in life. It was even one of my major reasons for going into World Cultural Studies. I want to care for people worldwide, and I believe the best approach is through culture and their individual needs.
