Cybersecurity Analyst
When it comes to the field of cybersecurity, there are many different roles that come into play. The role of a cybersecurity analyst plays a large role in protecting organizations from cyber threats. The role of a cybersecurity analyst is to protect an organization’s information systems and prevent cyberattacks and authorized access from getting to computer networks. They do so by implementing security measures to prevent cyberattacks, monitoring networks for security breaches, and investigating incidents of cyberattacks. Social science research is also critical to understanding human behavior and why cybercrime occurs in the first place.
Social science research plays a role in various aspects of the career of a cybersecurity analyst. Types of social sciences, such as psychology, sociology, and criminology help the cybersecurity analyst design efficient security tactics. Psychology helps them understand what causes people to make poor security choices and what can be done to encourage them to make better ones. Sociology is used to examine the social aspects of influencing the practices that promote cybersecurity and the importance of protecting oneself against cyber threats. And Criminology helps cybersecurity analysts better understand the the masterminds behind the cyber threats to provide more effective defense mechanisms.
Also cybersecurity is designed to protect and help people against cybercrime, there are issues that underlie within the field. Marginalized groups who may not have access to secure technology or the resources that cybersecurity provides are among those who are heavily
impacted by cybersecurity issues. As cybersecurity analysts, it is their job to make sure that their security measures put in place do not put marginalized groups at a disadvantage. When it comes to cyber attacks, such as data branches, the effects of identity theft can be detrimental to populations that are vulnerable. As an analyst, I should fight for policies that protect users from cyber threats by providing resources and educating marginalized groups on how to protect themselves against cyberthreats.
In conclusion, it is important to the cybersecurity analyst to incorporate social science research into their career to better understand how to protect their users against cyber attacks. As an analyst, the want for all your users to be able to live their lives without the worry of being victims of cyber attacks should be your top priority. Marginalized groups should never be put on the back burner because of policies put in place to protect users and they should be taken into considerations when making said policies.
