My parallel major as an undergraduate is Nuclear Medicine Technology. I chose this as my parallel major because their is different jobs that you can obtain just by being a Nuclear Medicine Technologist. I also chose this major because you are also helping assist patients just as the nurses do just in a different aspect. also because I can still help people and make them feel comfortable with the issues they are dealing with. The interesting fact about this major was when Mr. Sechrist came and showed us the scan of the human body even though it looked like an x-ray it was more to it. Nuclear Medicine isn’t just the MRI’s, the ultrasounds but it is more so about the structure of the human body and its organ and how they work. One career that I can have as a Nuclear Medical Technologist is a Radiologist. The Radiologist are the people that uses medical imagining to diagnose diseases or treat them within the human body.
The additional classes that I would need to pursue for this career are ethics, physics, and medical terminology. I can gain professional experience to learn more about this major is talk to somebody who is currently working in the career that I may consider. I can also shadow somebody in the field or get more information on the actual field that I want to get into. I can also talk to the adviser about the pros and cons of beingĀ a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
