An Effective Reflection Is

One exercise we did that focused in on culture is when we review the reading called La Siesta. This reading showed the difference between their culture and ours. It also showed many different things that they might have or do that we also do or don’t.

Out of the many things we did that we saw about different cultures this reading is the one that I most remember. As I reflect on it you can see and tell how the different things can be from where they are to here. I feel like it is important for people to see that different places different things are going on and it help with reading like this to open peoples eyes to new or different ways of living and thinking.

Engaging in Communities

It is very important in engaging in you community. It is because its good to help out and make sure people in your community are taken care of and know that people from their own community care about them. I take care of my community by giving out food to the needy or even donating clothes and going out and being face to face with people jus so they know that someone who looks like them is there for them.

Interpersonal Communication

In Span 102 we completed two TalkAbroad assignments. These assignments required us to go online and talk to people in Spanish and hold conversations about various topics. This was a good way to express our skills we have gained over the semester.

After only doing one of the two TalkAbroad assignments so far it was a good experience to reflect back on. This experience was good because it helped display what we have been learning and get to utilize the vocab we have learned in the previous chapters. I feel like I have grown from the last TalkAbroad assignment and I am more prepared for the next one then I was in the last assignment. What was difficult about that assignment was just remembering all the vocabulary. I feel that I overcame it by studying more and being more prepared for the next assignment. I feel like I know for next time to just be more prepared and to have my questions ready.

Presentational Speaking

The most we have done that I would call presentational speaking is going over homework questions in class or answering questions. These in class participation set me up better for answering questions and to learn quicker.

I feel like if you don’t study you’ll have a hard time participating in these questions in class. It wasn’t really challenging especially if you studied and knew all the vocabulary for all the chapters. I feel like the only part I only had to struggle with is conjugating some words. After I learned how to do that better the easier it became to answer more questions in class.

Presentational Writing

A presentational writing id like to go over is the composition we did in class and at home. These helped with writing sentences and also with word conjugations.

I wanted to reflect on the composition writing we did. I liked that we got to do multiple drafts to make sure we got it right. After this assignment I feel that it got easier to write sentences and answering questions. I also found it easier to conjugate words. Some things that was difficult was trying to think of answers for each of the questions. I overcame these difficulties by studying my book and understanding better how to write. Next time I could use more in detail sentences to answer questions or just overall write better.

Interpretive Listening

An interpretive listening assignment related to Spanish learning would have to be listening to those conversations in VHL or in the Exams and answering the true or false or filling in the blanks.

There wasn’t a challenge with this it was pretty straight forward. I just had to listen to the audio clips that were there and answer the questions. My takeaway from this would be that it helped me understand and learn by listening to how people might talk and say things.

Interpretive Reading

For this one I would say when in VHL when we had certain pages to go over in the book to look over before we could do the assignment.

This wasn’t challenging for me it was pretty easy to read and learn what I needed to know to get through the reading and the assignment. I think it was just overall interesting because I am learning new things as I go so as I read it was helping me in the long run. I grow with each assignment with more knowledge from the past ones.
