After completing this assignment I learned a lot about gender roles. This assignment required extensive research on the concept of gender roles within Israeli culture. I learned that in relation to American culture  Palestinian families connects more with gender identity than American families. It is a common standard for the male to be in charge of finances while the female is responsible for the upkeep of the home and caring for the children. In American homes this sense of gender identity is fleeting. The concept of gender roles that is explored in this assignment goes hand and hand with chapter 7 of this course. Chapter 7 goes in depth about culture and gender. Along with this assignment being relevant to previous chapters this assignment is relevant to me personally because I have always been interested in and curious about Israeli culture. One day I hope to be able to visit Israel. Having additional cultural knowledge is important when traveling anywhere in the world. I chose the image below because it is a picture of Israel’s beautiful landscape. This country is the culture that was discussed in assignment 5.
