The experience was good and has taught me a lot within the field. The projects and the capstone courses help because it forces you to find an internship which can help a lot. My experience was also boosted because I was able to land a student worker position that is cyber related.

The skills I most value are my linux skills and command prompt skills. Most of my work is through that and it has helped me sharpen my skills.

The most valuable experience was my student worker position for the COVA CCI department which works together with ODU ITS. This exposed me to the IT world as well as the cyber security world. The obstacle I came across was honestly finding a job in the field. I addressed this by reaching out to professors that would have job openings. This has helped me complete the program because it fills one of the internship capstone requirements. Since I was a computer science major before I became a cyber security major the coding courses have well prepared me for the coding involved in cyber.

The course that has taught me the most would be CYSE 270 this exposed me to a lot of the basic cyber security tools that would be used in the real world. WordPress would be the most interesting concept I have learned because it is so limited I had to find a bunch of workarounds. I am particularly proud of my page because WordPress is difficult to use and it is definitely something to be proud of. I would point them to my resume and certification page because that alone would be enough to land me a job. WordPress would be my obstacle of choice, I could have switched to Wix but I was in too deep for WordPress. The content could improve over time because I would be adding it with more certifications and other worthy content like projects.

Interdisciplinary methods and theories was very important because they connected them in terms of writing and research. It all ties into each other when you dive deeper into your research. It is important to be an interdisciplinary thinker because there are multiple ways of thinking about a certain topic and having multiple perspectives helps a lot. My next steps after ODU would be to move back home to NOVA and find a job for the government. NOVA is a really good area to network and find a job because there is big potential with DC and other hot spots to market myself.
