CYSE 270

This course introduces the basic operations in major Linux distros for cybersecurity using both
graphical interface and command-line interface. Students will learn about the basic installation
and configuration, file systems management, shell scripts, and user authentication in Linux
systems

What I learned

This course allowed me to work on my command line skills or terminal skills. Everything was through the terminal because you can do a lot through this, especially with root access. This course helped me with my personal goals because as I look for a job in the professional world you would have to be proficient with the terminal. I will use the knowledge I gained from the course for a major part of my career.

Example Assignment: Basic Network Configuration

I was asked to do a lot of tasks for example figure out your IP, use certain commands to figure out about the network configuration for this virtual machine. It would be difficult to explain what exactly I did but basically I was checking the VM network configuration and checking the DNS as well. Also checking if this would work if we had changed the network configuration of the VM. This is worth including because I want my audience to know that I know how to do these tasks.

The significance of CYSE 270 was to expose me to tools I would end up using as a cybersecurity major. It also familiarized me with linux, terminal, and everything that comes with that. This connects with my message through the portfolio because my work throughout this course was representing my simple and effective work. The pdf I attached can show these two ideas being in use.
