Evaluation

During my internship, I successfully met the professional goals I had set for myself: improving communication and problem-solving skills in a healthcare setting, gaining a deeper understanding of home health and hospice care, and developing human service management skills. Through tasks like making quality assurance calls, handling documentation, and coordinating with administrative staff, I was able to apply classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios. I gained valuable insight into how agencies support patients and maintain quality care, especially when addressing concerns or service issues. These experiences helped me build practical skills and better understand the inner workings of a healthcare organization.

The internship was highly beneficial to me as a BSHS student, offering hands-on experience in a supportive, structured environment. Although my assigned preceptor was the HR Director, I was primarily supervised by the Lead CNA/Administrative Assistant, who provided excellent guidance and support. The work environment fostered collaboration while maintaining clear responsibilities among team members. I believe this site would be especially valuable for students interested in administrative roles within healthcare. With initiative, there may also be opportunities to observe leadership or operational aspects beyond daily tasks. Overall, it was a positive and insightful experience that enhanced my understanding of human services in a healthcare context.
