Activity Summary 2

During the last 100 hours of my internship at James River Home Health (JRHH), I have continued to build on my foundational experiences while expanding into new administrative and operational tasks. My role has evolved to include responsibilities that contribute more directly to the accuracy and efficiency of patient records and communication across care teams. One of my key duties during this phase involved correcting clinician visit times in patient charts. This task required attention to detail and a solid understanding of how accurate documentation supports both compliance and continuity of care. In addition, I was responsible for uploading important patient documents into their electronic health records (EHR), ensuring that all relevant information was easily accessible to clinicians and staff. This task reinforced the importance of organization and data integrity in a healthcare setting. Another important responsibility included notifying pharmacies about the discharge of mutual patients. This role required professional communication and a clear understanding of the transition process to avoid lapses in care or medication errors. These tasks helped me further develop critical skills such as time management, problem-solving, and professional communication. My proficiency with EHR systems has continued to grow, and I’ve become more confident in navigating patient records and recognizing how they contribute to overall care coordination. I also gained a better understanding of the behind-the-scenes operations that support patient care, particularly how administrative accuracy directly affects patient safety and satisfaction. Overall, the past 100 hours have been rewarding. I’ve gained a deeper appreciation for the interconnectedness of roles within a healthcare organization and the importance of seamless communication among care providers, administrative staff, and external partners. These experiences have strengthened my knowledge of healthcare administration and prepared me for more advanced responsibilities in the future.
