Week 15 – Journal Entry 15

The man in the video, David Teo, didn’t seem to start as a digital forensic investigator, but rather an accountant. He seems to of accidently entered the world of IT and later cybersecurity as simply because his job was looking for someone with IT experience and he decided to apply for the position, which later led to him getting an offer to join a digital forensic team and simply joined it because it sounded cool. It feels like, to me at least, a lot of people who join the cybersecurity field simply join it because of similar reasons: just because it sounded cool.

The career itself relates to the concept of Objectivity and Skepticism. Skepticism was shown in his example about the camera and the floppy disk. The securing of the photos on a floppy disk and the sealing of the said floppy disk in a evidence bag prevents the data from being manipulated later since they have the data secured somewhere.
