The item to artifact that engaged me most was from module three:

Locate and take a picture of an object that you believe represents your culture. Discuss the reasons that you selected this item. This item can be associated with categories such as race, ethnicity, nationality, and/or gender. The objective of this task is to illustrate the uniqueness and diversity of culture.

This assignment I really had to think about what i wanted to choose to represent my own culture. I never really thought about how I am experiencing culture different from other people. When doing this assignment I thought about what is different between my own culture and the cultures of other people and places in the world. This helped me find out what item to choose. The object I chose was my haircutting clippers.

Haircutting clippers represent more than just my current occupation. Being a women in the barbering industry is not as common in other cultures as it is in America (even though to some Americans women barbers are not real barbers). And when I thought about it, some cultures do not even let women have the opportunity and the freedom to have a career or something they are passionate about. All in all, these clippers represent my freedom, creativity, and passion that I, as an American, can experience in my culture.

Top Artifacts Two

The item to archive that engaged me the most was from module 10.

Did you find any differences in the results? If you said “yes” in the previous question, who will you wait for the longest time and who will you wait for the shortest time? Why?

I picked this item to archive because it was a new perspective I have never thought about before. When answering the chart, I found it interesting to think about how long i would really wait for a partner, and why I felt that way. The least amount of time i would wait on someone is 0 minutes. These people are my colleagues and my boss. I think I ranked them low because they are not part of my personal life, so I do not want to use any of my free time waiting for them. The people I scored highest for are my parents and my older siblings. I scored them one hour, but in reality i think it would depend on the situation. I think I ranked them this way because I value time with my family a lot because they are the people I care about the mist, but I never see them.

This photo represents how I feel represents time.

Top Artifact Three

The artifact I chose was from module 13; Happiness.

What makes you happy? Do you think that at different times of your life, different things made you happy? Do you think your happiness relates to better physical health? Or do you think better physical health leads to your happiness?

I enjoyed the item to archive from module three where I needed to explain what makes me happy and my relationship with happiness. For starters, I never really think about what makes me happy. When I read this assignment in the first place I imagined myself and what would make me completely happy and content in that moment. I thought of a spring day with my family where we are cooking in the kitchen with the windows open. My family and friends are a big part of my life, and outside my busy work and school schedule, my time with them is what I look forward to the most. I also thought about after a long day at work I come home and am greeted by my cat, who is practically my first born and makes me very happy every day.

This assignment also made me reflect upon the different perspective cultures we learn in this course. Humans are very complex with many cultures and values. As I put myself in the place of someone of another culture and think, “what makes me happy?”, I realize that happiness is a very universal feeling that can mean the same thing to multiple different people of different cultures. In the end, I think one of the reasons for life is to find the happiness in our own unique lives.
