BLUF: The way we should approach the development of cyber-policy is by being resilient and flexible, value watching systems and finding threats, collaborate with others around us to fight back threats, and many layers of defense.
Resilience and flexibility, we need to create systems and policies that are able to quickly change in a day’s notice. As without prior knowledge or the attacks being used, hackers will always throw need things at our systems.
Value watching systems and finding threats, the ability to monitor our systems is something that not everyone values correctly. Breaches happen to almost all companies whether small or big and being able to look at when this happens and how is something that gives us the information we need.
Collaboration, as companies all trying to make a profit and serve the American people. We should all be able to help each other and work as a group at least in the cyber side. Every company suffers from breaches that if shared and documented could save many.
Layers of defense, much like monitoring the systems we create, laying a company’s defense is something that is very important. With many layers we can see how someone broke into one and then form another defense on that fact.
Conclusion: We should approach the development of cyber policy by being flexible, watching our systems, collaborating, and layers of defense.
