Journal Entry #1

I am interested in cybersecurity technology because I have always been into computers and electronics in general. I have been around computers my whole life because of my dad, and he’s taught me a lot about how to use them. We had Mac’s and PC’s growing up, but I am more familiar with Mac OSX than anything. Learning about both O’S helped me understand more about computing when I was really young. It is very interesting to me to see how things work and how we can help solve certain issues especially over the internet and computers. I started my first year of college back in 2018 at Radford University with a computer science major but dropped my first coding class 2 weeks in because of the overload of work I had to do. The class load was too much originally, and I was under the impression that I had to take and pass these certain classes just to move forward with my degree, but I did not know at the time that it was false. Still, I was interested in computing and IT because that is what my father does and is an IT manager. When I learned that I did not have to do coding and learned how broad cybersecurity is as a career choice It made me even more interested in it. Working with others and being willing to learn is more of my field choice but also not overworking myself for nothing. I want to be able to grow while helping people and myself. There are so many jobs available for people in this field. I want to evaluate and see all my options because I do not know yet what I will be doing. Fortunately, that is what these classes are for, and I hope to learn a lot along the way.
