Cyber security is something that is defined in a lot of things but bare
bones it involves the protection of computers from attacks. In terms of majors
that relate to cyber security here at ODU, four notable ones are Business,
Computer Science, Engineering, and Criminal Justice.

Business- Business has such a wide array of things involved with it and any
sort of business with computers or any sort of technology. All of this is going
to need some sort of IT or cybersecurity. This is especially important if
things crucial to your business or things that need to be kept confidential. Everything
that makes money is a business and people in cybersecurity are needed for all
types of companies around the world to make sure information is secure like
things such as credit card information.

Computer Science- To me Cyber Security is something that branches off
computer science. Anything related to cybersecurity will involve computer
science. Anytime computers are involved and especially if involved in a
business or creation cyber threats will be something that is unavoidable.

Engineering- The types of engineering that is interested in cyber security
include computer engineers, electrical engineers, and systems engineers. These professions are very prone to cyber-attacks and threats. Things such as malware are very prevalent here. Engineering is something that involves creation and physical
damage can also be a threat. Critical infrastructures of engineering can
include food and agriculture, telecommunication, transportation systems, and
water and wastewater systems.

Criminal Justice- Criminal Justice can look at how people detect illegal
actions involving computers. People in cybersecurity can help the law
enforcement along with the criminal justice system by finding people who are
cyber-threats and can find ways to prevent things from happening again. There
is always a connection with things if it involves it specifically. An example
would be a hacker who was caught trying to access information and then people
in the cybersecurity field working to catch and prevent the same thing from
happening again
