Cyber technology is now a main focus of communication. That wasn’t the case around twenty to thirty years ago. If privacy is a huge thing for people, then they should not make social media accounts. This is an easy way for people to learn who you are or what is about you. If you have a stalker in real life, it is almost certain that they would be Cyber Stalking you as well. Possibly without the victim even knowing. Cyber Stalking involves repeated pursuits of unwanted electronic communications that may be threatening. This can cause stress, anxiety, and intimidation in the victim. A problem with cyber technology involving this happens to be the ability to be hidden or anonymous. Our accounts could be looked at right now by someone we do not know or like and we would not know about it. Cyber Harassment is one of the bigger issues and stalking I believe branches off of CH. Offenders will use technology to intimidate their victims. As I said earlier in this post any type of harassment from in real life is most likely going to happen in cyber areas as well especially if social media or cell phones are involved. This is why it is important to hold people accountable for the abuse and harassment cause online as well as in real life. People with prior contact with the justice system do face more severe charges are penalties as they should. Restraining orders help with this but again cyber stalking can be very hard to pinpoint at times and people can say who they not. It seems that cyber harassment is more of an issue with the younger generations and the penalties are much higher when involving an adult and a minor jumping from a misdemeanor to a felony. At the end of the day people should respect each other’s boundaries and try not to harass.
