- Recognition: I believe that most people know that if a hacker is recognized by the world they get 15 minutes of fame then are never spoken of again. So if one is hacking to be recognized then they need to not get caught or become such a threat that they affect the world in a large way.
- Revenge : I believe that there are many other ways of getting revenge that would be a lot more satisfying to the person inflicting the revenge. I understand if someone is experienced and thinks that they can cause the most harm through hacking.
- Boredom: I believe that if you’re bored there are a lot more ways to entertain or keep busy then to hack into other devices. Some things that can be done in place of hacking is to play video games or watch a movie or anything else that is legal and entertaining.
- Entertainment: My reasoning for Entertainment is the same as boredom. I believe that there are many other ways to entertain yourself that don’t resort to hurting others’ devices.
- Money: I can understand wanting to hack for money because it is like a bank robbery without the risk of being arrested or killed and is a much safer route.
- Political: Using hacking to gain political power or to change the political stance makes sense because it is for a more understandable goal.
- Multiple reasons: I can understand more when someone hacks for multiple reasons because it took an accumulation of multiple events to lead to the attack.
