Cyber technology has largely impacted the interactions between offenders and victims in several ways. With the increase in influence of the internet and technology, offenders are finding new ways to carry out illegal activities such as stealing, hacking, cyberbullying, and identity fraud online. With all of these crimes their is an interaction between the victims and the attackers that are different because its online instead of in person crimes. One of the main ways that cyber technology effects the interactions between the attackers and victims by allowing the attacker to be completely anonyms and be able to attack from anywhere around the world. Attackers can attack from anywhere under any name and be able to completely hide their identity from the victim. The ability to mask their identity makes the victim more vulnerable attack, because people are more likely to share personal information to people who they don’t know over the internet. Cyber technology also allows attackers to attack several people at the same time making their range of attack more broad and farther. An example of this would be being able to cyberbully several people at once who all may not know the other victims. Another example would be an attacker setting up an online fraud scheme that can be sent to several thousand people worldwide that could fall for the scheme and the people would never know who sent out the scheme. The cyber attacks on these scales can be challenging for law enforcement to prosecute the crime effectively because of how wide spread the attack is. Also most crimes that are taken in person usually end their with the interaction, but with cybercrime the offender can continue to harass and bully the victim and possibly tricking them again into giving out more private information. Overall Cyber technology has completely changed the way that crimes take place and how long they can go on for.
