Assignment 1 was beneficial to me in a self-reflective aspect. As I have stated before, I am an above-average cultured individual, due to the fact that I have had the opportunity to live in two continents. I understand first hand that culture can be a manifestation of the “we are a product of our environment” theory. However, this assignment gave me a new appreciation for the cultural influences in my own life and childhood.

I  notice a fair majority of the subtle dual-cultural psychological challenges, like accent changes, political stances and attitudes, etc. However, I do not often contemplate how my dual-citizenship also created a marginal sense of vagrancy. How the subconscious internal battle for cultural identity can influence my entire outlook on cultural differences. The research model presented along with this assignment helped me analyze these aspects of my personal life. Dr. Milton J. Bennett’s model, and specifically the Stage of Integration, gave me a greater appreciation for the uniqueness of my cultural background and cue to notice that cultural background’s consequences.
