Hello! As you know by now, my name is Sebastian Stovall. I am a hard-working, detail oriented aspiring cybersecurity professional, originally from South Boston, Virginia. As an only child of two full time working parents, I quickly learned the value of hard work and responsibility. I began working at a young age, as around the age of 12 I began spending my summers assisting my father working with his construction business, which is where I began to learn the discipline it requires to succeed in the workplace.
I graduated from Old Dominion University with a bachelor of science in Cybersecurity, a university known for its diversity and prestige. I not only began to develop skills in cybersecurity while at ODU, but also skills such as time management, leadership, and accountability. As you can see below, I was heavily involved on campus, being an active member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated, Ebony Impact Gospel Choir, and King In You, while also being employed on campus as a desk receptionist for Housing and Residence Life. Learning how to balance not only being in multiple organizations but being among leadership for these organizations as well has led to me not only being a well rounded professional, but a qualified leader as well.
I take great pride in being a student in cybersecurity and I am extremely eager to learn more and advance in the field. I am a proved critical thinker with experience in cybersecurity through the collegiate program and a comprehensive internship I have completed. Along with also having a niche for computers and technology, I am confident in my ability to succeed in the information security field, as I aspire to go into Risk Management after graduating from Old Dominion’s Masters program.
Involvement
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.

While at ODU, I became a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated, a historically African American intercollegiate fraternity, through way of the Omicron Iota Chapter. The fraternity was founded at Howard University by three collegiate men on the principles of brotherhood, scholarship, and service. The fraternity was created to serve an inclusive perspective in serving the community as opposed to the exclusive purpose common among fraternities at the time.
As a member of the Omicron Iota Chapter I served as the Omicron Iota secretary, social action chairman, and membership intake chairman. I gained experience planning and leading events along with publicly speaking on behalf of the chapter. I also participated in countless hours of community service. After being initiated into the fraternity, I was quickly thrust into a leadership role, and gained experience fostering communication and teamwork among brothers, which has continued to benefit me in everyday life.
King In You (KIY)

During my last semester at ODU, myself along with my one of my fraternity brothers chartered King In You, a men’s empowerment organization, at ODU, creating the second chapter of the organization after it was founded by another fraternity brother at Norfolk State University. KIY was created to promoted professional development and chivalry among young men, while encouraging them to support and give back to their local communities.
While working to get the organization approved, I met regularly with my fraternity brother Miles, coordinating future events and analyzing the KIY constitution. I eventually became the chartering vice president post approval, and I worked together with Miles to interview prospective members and appoint an executive board. KIY gave me the highest executive position I held for any organization at ODU as vice president, and helped me to develop as a professional leader, as I had to not only build the chapter from the ground up with Miles’ help, but also evaluate members by their skills to put them in executive positions to help them succeed.
Ebony Impact Gospel Choir

While at ODU I was also an active member of Ebony Impact Gospel Choir’s street team. The only primarily African American Christian organization on campus. As a member of the street team I was often tasked with working with the Public Relations team to put out content showcasing the choir, along with behind the scenes work such as gathering and setting up supplies and filling in whatever responsibilities were needed. Being a member of the street team strengthened my versatility in being able to fulfill whatever needs the choir had at any given time.
