Office Assistant at the ODU Alumni Department

During my sophomore year of college, this was the first job I ever acquired during my college experience. I was able to work in a department that had to deal with planning events for ODU Alumni, upcoming graduates, preparing materials for campus events, and even tabling for “Day of Giving”. I am thankful to say, as a first job, this position gave me experience that I had never acquired before coming her. I believe this was the start of me coming out of my shell when it came to working in a professional setting.

Student Assistant at the Center of Learning & Teaching

Also, during this year I obtained a second job as a Student Design Assistant at the Center of Learning & Teaching office. Some of the things I did here would be going over online course modules and making sure documents, PowerPoints, etc were working.

Marketing Assistant at ODU Student Recreation Center

During my Senior year, I worked as a Marketing Assistant at our Recreation and Wellness Department (ODU SRC). I will be forever thankful that I got this position because I had the ability to use my prior knowledge and skills to help grow our social media pages. I honestly felt as though I was able to be creative while still have fun doing the tasks I needed to complete. Having this position has now added on a list of employment/experiences I’m willing dive deeper in.

• Professional Development (participation in professional organizations, research opportunities, professional presentations or panel discussions, increased duties and responsibilities within a professional organization or job, and any skill-based or social awareness training)

As I spoke previously about my Marketing Assistant position, I felt as though around my third month there, there was an increase of duties and responsibilities that I had obtained. Since we wanted to enhance our content on social media, we began to record videos. These videos then needed to be edited and scheduled accordingly to be posted. I had never really edited a video before, so during this time I had gain experience and skill in this. Lastly, I enjoyed the interviews that I did while holding this position as well. Just recently (April 2022) I received “Employee of the Month”!

Some of the social involvement I obtained would be tabling events for charity(ODU Alumni position) and attending events and getting pictures for campus events for my Marketing position.
