Since I’m still undecided about my major, I’ve been looking at a bunch of different potential career and educational paths I could take. I haven’t been able to decide on just exactly what I want to do, but I know that I want to do something that will help others and make people’s lives easier. I am interested in taking Cybersecurity at Old Dominion University because I believe it is an important and growing field. Cybersecurity is the practice of protecting networks, systems, and programs from digital attacks. With the rise of technology, it is becoming increasingly important for businesses and organizations to protect their data from malicious attacks. Old Dominion University offers many classes and opportunities in the field of cybersecurity, so I would like to see if it is something that I am interested in myself. I would like to see if designing cybersecurity technology is something I am interested in, so learning the science and psychology behind the why’s and hows that criminals commit cyber crimes is an important first step to take towards that.
I am also drawn to Old Dominion University’s emphasis on research and innovation in cybersecurity. The faculty and research staff are highly experienced in the field and are constantly pushing the boundaries of cybersecurity knowledge and solutions. This provides an ideal environment for me to gain meaningful experience in the field and develop the skills needed to excel in the industry.
In conclusion, Old Dominion University’s Cybersecurity program offers a comprehensive curriculum and an innovative environment that I believe will provide me with the skills and knowledge necessary to become a successful cybersecurity professional. I am excited to see if this career path is right for me, and even if I don’t want to make career out of it, it will still broaden my horizons and knowledge.
