Every country faces unique challenges and vulnerabilities when it comes to cybersecurity risks. By comparing cybersecurity risks from both countries’ perspectives, this paper aims to provide an overview.

Cyberattackers often target the United States due to its position as a leading global economic and political power. Cybercriminals and state-sponsored hackers can exploit the country’s advanced technological infrastructure and extensive use of digital systems for their malicious activities. In order to protect against cyberattacks it’s important for organizations in the United States to be aware of key security risks such as data breaches and ransomware along with phishing attempts and intellectual property theft. As per information provided by The Identity theft resource center, there were over thousand cases of Data breach which is around about eleven hundred. The year 2020 saw the exposure of over 300 million records. The U.S. Ransomware attacks have also affected government and private organizations where cybercriminals demand payment to release encrypted data. A large portion of The East Coast saw major shortages and price increases for gasoline after a cyberattack on The Colonial pipeline took place during 2021 To obtain sensitive information from people in the U.S., cybercriminals employ social engineering strategies that make phishing attacks a significant cybersecurity hazard. In addition to other concerns related to cybersecurity threats against America today include increased incidents of IP theft by foreign governments’ cyber espionage operations Valuable trade secrets and research data get stolen by companies.

The extensive e-commerce industry and vast online population of the country make it a prime destination for cybercriminals who want to obtain personal and financial information. In China’s cybersecurity landscape there are three main threats: malware attacks, data breaches, and phishing attempts. Cybercrime involving the use of malware is widely prevalent across various regions in China resulting into numerous cases of stolen sensitive information.
