Journal #4 on College Success
Ever since I started attending college I haven’t had the best of luck managing my time, or balancing my priorities. There has been many times where my group of friends, who also attend Old Dominion University, would invite me to go to the movie theaters or shopping mall with them, and I’d be hesitant to decline the offer. Even though when I had a class starting in a few minutes, I went with them hoping that I don’t miss anything important that could appear on the tests or exams. After falling behind in many of my classes with notes and missed assignments, I started to understand that all my actions have consequences. From having a panic attack about failing a class and having to repeat it, I knew that I had to rebuild myself from, bottom to top, improving my capabilities as a college student. I had to learn how to say, “no,” and self-discipline myself in order to stay on track with my academic studies. After that, I started to catch up with my work, and fully understand what it takes to be a success college student. I realized that when it comes to attending college, there comes sacrifices as to not being able to be around your friends often.
