After taking UNIV 150 for my spring 2017 semester, I’ve seen how my writings improved. At first I was making mistakes because of the last minute jobs I would be putting into my essays, and it would result in me receiving a few threes in grading. I’ve learned now to plan ahead with my writings, creating an outline that’ll serve as a flow chart of what I should write about next, and connecting each point that I would make to lead to the conclusion. I remember the most common mistakes I would make would be informal writing, and the abundance of commas that I’d use in unnecessary places in my essays. I used many of the resources provided to me by my UNIV 150 teacher, such as Purdue Owl, in ensuring that I wouldn’t make the same mistake again. As I started following the rules of writing, I started to see less corrections needed to be made on the essays I turn in, or less of the common mistakes that I would usually make. Taking UNIV 150 was a good wake up call, as I knew that I still had a lot to learn, and a lot to correct in my ability to write. From being taught to correct my mistakes, I feel as if I’m ready for English 110 and it’s writing challenges it’ll have for me.
