Over the years, I’ve had many hobbies that would come and go as they soon started to not entertain me the way they did at first. For example, from when I was a sixth grader I enjoyed collecting toys. This hobby of mine lasted until when I started my freshman year in college. Money wasn’t a joke when it came to tuition or paying for used or new textbooks. Since all the money provided by my parents were strictly used only for my academic studies, my hobby for collecting toys had to end. Usually I’d spend $30.00 to $50.00 a month expanding my toy collection with the latest television show I as into at the moment. However, to survive in college as I’m there for the majority of the day, I’ll need to eat in order for my body to function normally. Seeing how food swipes are almost $200.00 to $500.00 I stuck with plan B and went to the 7-Eleven across the street. Unfortunately, though, I started to feel as if my life was missing an important part of it. Sitting with my laptop, I searched for inexpensive hobbies that I might start considering to help make empty moments feel fulfilled again. Knowing that I couldn’t go back to collecting toys, I found that story writing was the way to go. Now having this new story writing activity with me, during my free time at Old Dominion University I brainstorm ideas that could potentially lead my story for a greater climax. As of today, I’m at page 35 on my science fiction adventure titled, “Star Boy,” and I hope to someday have it published and sold in stores.
