Cyber technology has opened ways for offenders to attack victims while keeping barriers up. Because cyber technology allows us to sit behind a computer screen virtually anywhere in the world it allows perpetrators to commit crimes the same way. In the normal world while excluding cyber technology, physical interaction must take place to commit a crime by the offender on the victim. However with cyber technology, there is no need for physical interaction which opens the door for more criminals who may not have the physical means to attack a victim or cause harm. But they do have the intelligence means to commit cyber crimes though identity theft, cyber hacking, cyber stalking, among many other things. Sitting behind a screen allows a cyber offender to remain anonymous which they can commit more times over a longer period of time because it is harder for them to get caught. Cyber technology also gives offenders information that can be used to commit a crime. One example for this is if an unknowing victim posts a picture on social media that they are on vacation, this tells the offender that no one is home. The offender can easily go to the victims house with a much lower chance of being caught. Another use of cyber technology is predators. They use this technology to lie about their true identity or do give their identity but try to convince unsuspecting victims to meet them with evil intentions.
