Engineers make cyber networks safer by creating better software, hardware, and protocols or security standards to follow. Because they build their cyber networks, they know the ins and outs of everything. This allows them to test the safety protocols and security of their network better because they can more easily pinpoint weak spots. These tests can be conducted through penetration testing. This is where they deliberately try to hack into their own network so that they can then go back and fortify their network. Exposing a threat before the threat can occur is one of the best preventative measures that these engineers can take in the meaning of security. Another reason why engineers are so important to cyber networks is because they do more than just supervise the initial set up and initial tests. They also supervise future changes in their networks through the software, hardware, and changes in protocols. On the enterprise side of the operations, they best best advise and implement proper modifications to the legal and regulatory strategies needed. Because they are responsible for all of the networks hardware and software security, they must ensure that all of their employees understand the protocols. The protocols that I am speaking of are the use of their hardware and software as well as how to properly respond to bugs, attacks, and how to communicate this information to the proper people. Engineers can also be consultants for companies if they are not directly employed by said company. If they are consultants then they do basically the same tasks at hand or if they are hired for specific tasks then they do as such to ensure safe cyber networks. No matter the job, the engineer will relay their work and newfound information about the cyber networks to the management. Engineers are essential to the safety of all of our cyber networks.
