This course focused on interdisciplinary research and problem-solving by teaching how to analyze complex issues using multiple academic perspectives. The goal of the course was to move beyond a single-subject approach and instead understand how different disciplines can contribute to a more complete understanding of real-world problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A major assignment in this course was a workshop where I created a visual representation of the 10-step interdisciplinary research process. This required me to translate an academic process into a visual format and explain it clearly in writing. The assignment emphasized not just understanding the steps, but being able to communicate them in a structured and accessible way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The term paper was centered on the research question: \u201cWhat are the health effects of medical marijuana on users?\u201d In this project, I applied an interdisciplinary approach by drawing from psychology, biology, and chemistry to analyze both the benefits and risks associated with medical marijuana use. I examined topics such as mental health effects, physiological impacts, and the chemical composition of cannabis, using peer-reviewed research sources to support my analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Throughout the course, I also completed module reflection posts and workshops that focused on breaking down complex topics and thinking through them from multiple perspectives. These assignments reinforced the importance of using structured research methods and considering how different fields of study contribute unique insights to the same problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From a cybersecurity perspective, this course is relevant because it strengthened my ability to analyze complex issues using multiple viewpoints and structured research methods. In cybersecurity and IT, problems are rarely isolated to one discipline, and understanding how to synthesize information from different sources is essential when evaluating risks, systems, and real-world security challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
