Experience

Beyond the Classroom: Engagement & Impact
Throughout my time at Old Dominion University, I have actively participated in student organizations, mentorship programs, and research initiatives that extended beyond the classroom. These experiences have enhanced my leadership, problem-solving, and technical skills, while also allowing me to apply cybersecurity concepts in real-world settings.

Student Organizations & Leadership
As a Resident Assistant (RA) at ODU, I have been responsible for community building, conflict resolution, and event planning. This role has strengthened my communication, leadership, and crisis management skills, which are essential in both IT and cybersecurity fields. Balancing resident responsibilities with technical coursework has improved my ability to multitask, manage responsibilities, and adapt to fast-paced environments.

I also serve as a Global Monarch Club Mentor, where I assist international students in adjusting to academic and social life at ODU. This experience has helped me develop cultural awareness and mentorship skills, which are valuable when working in diverse, global cybersecurity teams.

Community Engagement & Research
My involvement in the COVA CCI Cybersecurity Research Program allowed me to collaborate with cybersecurity professionals, analyze emerging threats, and develop risk assessment strategies. This research, particularly in AI-driven security solutions and deepfake detection, reinforced my understanding of cybersecurity policies and ethical considerations in artificial intelligence.

Through the Virginia Cyber Navigator Internship Program, I worked with state election offices to conduct cybersecurity risk assessments, ensure compliance with NIST standards, and enhance election security protocols. This hands-on experience gave me insight into government cybersecurity policies, infrastructure vulnerabilities, and the importance of public-sector cybersecurity resilience.

Impact & Future Applications
These experiences have bridged the gap between academic learning and practical application. My leadership roles have strengthened my ability to communicate complex technical issues to diverse audiences, while my research and internships have refined my technical expertise and strategic thinking.

Moving forward, these experiences will play a crucial role in my career. Whether working in cybersecurity risk management, AI-driven security solutions, or IT compliance, the problem-solving, leadership, and analytical skills I have developed will enable me to make meaningful contributions in any professional setting.

This portfolio not only showcases my academic and technical journey but also reflects my commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and community engagement in the cybersecurity industry.
