. Andriy Slynchuk has described eleven things Internet users do that may be illegal. Review what the author says and write a paragraph describing the five most serious violations and why you think those offenses are serious.

The article “11 Illegal Things You Unknowingly Do on the Internet” was a very informational article to read and doing so taught me some things that I didn’t know were illegal. In the article, it speaks on 11 things that are illegal but the ones I would take very seriously are “recording VoIP calls, collecting information about children, faking your identity, bullying/trolling, and sharing passwords/addresses/photos of others.” These are serious offenses in today’s society for their own individual reasons but can all lead to a similar outcome which is major jail time. The first issue is recording VoIP calls, this is extremely illegal because if you record a conversation without consent it is considered to be wiretapping or eavesdropping which is punishable by five years in jail. A second serious issue is collecting information about children, this can get incredibly serious because it violates the Children’s Online Protection Act and is serious due to the possibility of human trafficking which leads to serious jail time. Next serious issue is faking your identity online, which can be a huge violation due to websites implementing age restrictions to try and avoid safety issues. The fourth issue is bullying/trolling online. This has recently become an issue across social media but can be very serious because people have committed self-harmed and have even committed suicide from what some people believe to be just joking. The last issue is sharing photos, passwords, and addresses of others. This is a serious offense due to the issues it can cause because of the violation of privacy and what hackers can do with the information that is being given out. In conclusion, after reading this article I am definitely being mindful and implementing the advice that was given to me from the article.
