When I look back to when I was kid I would watch spy movies all the time. I would always be interested in the person behind the computer. At the time I didn’t really understand what they were doing or how they were doing. But as I got older I started to understand their job and what they were doing. As I was understanding I even more wanted to go in the field of cybersecurity.
So when junior/senior year of high school came around I already had an idea what I wanted to do in the future. Especially back in May 2021 when the Colonial Pipeline hack happened gave me even more motivation to go in the field of cybersecurity. Reason for it made me want to defend my country from hackers like them.
The route I want to take in the cybersecurity field is becoming an ethical hacker/penetration tester. I want to be the person to simulate cyber attacks on softwares. To make sure there is limited or no way someone could hack into the software. Another reason I want to be a penetration tester is because of how many job opportunities that come with it. As there are shortages in penetration testers. It also means it’s in high demand.
So when looking into cybersecurity it’s hard for me to not want to do cybersecurity. It’s a growing industry that has endless possibilities for someone. So my plan is to get my degree in cybersecurity and some government certifications. To strengthen my chances of getting my dream job as an ethical hacker. Which also led me to go to Old Dominion University since it has a zero unemployment rate for people with Cybersecurity degree there. With that being said, that is why I’m interested in cybersecurity technology.
