When looking at ethical reasons why problems arise when storing electronic information about individuals there are four main reasons. The four main reasons are privacy and confidentiality, security breach, system implementation and data inaccuracies. Each of these reasons are difficult to be kept disclosed from other people or companies. Special when looking at privacy and confidentiality.
Privacy and confidentiality are when a person or organization is keeping confidential information of an individual. When it comes to the privacy part is where the problem occurs. The reason it is a problem when keeping confidential or private is because the information is most of the time saved on technological devices. When stuff is saved on a technological device it always runs the risk of being hacked or stolen.
Which leads to another ethical issue when storing information which is security breaches. Security breaches are when sensitive information or confidential information, is copied, transmitted, viewed, or stolen. When this happens it can also lose trust between you or a person who is partnered or a customer of the company. Reason for that is the person who lost the information or had their information exposed, would have to get their information changed. For example if a person was to have their credit card information on their computer and it was hacked. That person would have to go to the bank and get everything changed.
Following that, another ethical issue that arises is system implementation. System implementation is when a system provides a foundation for development and improvement of a system (Ensuring). So how system implementation comes out to be a problem is when the system is not kept up to date. If a system is not kept up to date it causes a system to be vulnerable to hackers. Which could lead to data breaches.
With that being said the final and last ethical issue when storing data is data inaccuracies. Data inaccuracies is basically knowing what you’re doing with the data when transferring. The reason this could be a threat is if a person dont know what they are doing when transferring data it can lead to data being lost.
