To start off deviance means “the fact or state of departing from usual or accepted standards, especially in social or sexual behavior” (“Oxford Languages and Google – English | Oxford Languages”). So when viewing how workplace deviance can happen in the cyberfield it can happen easily because it doesn’t have to be face to face. Which can cause it to be harder to detect. An example of how the workplace happens is when an employee is treating their co-workers and company rudely because he didn’t get a promotion. Now when dealing with deviance in the cyber field it could be harsher. The employee knows he’s going to get fired from the company because they are unsatisfied with his actions. So before he is fired he downloads sensitive information about the company. Then sells it to the rival company to get back at the company’s financial gain. Now if that employee somehow still ends up being able to come back to that company he can continue to damage the company. In that situation it will be workplace deviance because you’re harming the company and departing the company standards for you. Another way of how workplace deviance could happen in cyber technology is if an employee takes out aggression on the business he works for. For example the employee gets mad and turns off the company security systems. When doing it leaves the company vulnerable to cyber attacks and breaches. Lets say a hacker does take advantage of that opportunity and steals sensitive information about the company. Having said that, this creates it much harder to find the person that took the information. It also means that the person could choose to damage this company for a longer period of time before actually getting caught or even noticed. In conclusion, cyber technology has made more workplace deviance happen and harder to get caught.
