In today’s time cyber technology has changed the whole easy crime was committed or even down to the offender and victim. Before the advancement of cyber technology crimes were done face to face or in person. Every year since the computer came out crimes have changed completely. From simple telephone scams to people hacking and taking control of a whole power grid. Having said that, it could even mean that cyber technology has more dangerous interaction between offenders and victims.

The reason I believe it’s more dangerous is because with cyber technology a victim to a cybercrime could be a victim without even knowing there is a victim to a cybercrime. For example, a hacker could hack your computer and gain access to all of your information. When they gain access to your information they could sell on the web for profit. A hacker could do this and you wouldn’t even know until someone or bank informs you. So lets say they gained your banking information, and then they routed themself money a little bit at a time. You wouldn’t know until you get your bank statement or the bank informs you. While when looking at crimes used to be done face to face they could only get what you had on you. For example, if you were walking the street late at night and someone came up to you and forced you to give them everything that you had on you. Most likely it could just be stuff that could be replaced.

So when looking at how it can leave a long lasting impact it really is up to the person and how they move one from it. So when looking at how the person failed to be a victim to a cybercrime without even knowing, they could improve their cybersecurity. Which could still help but still not promise 100% that they will never get hacked again. Having said that, it could leave emotional damage of feeling worthless, fear, and frustration because you never be 100% protected. Following that, face to face crime could also leave a person feeling the same emotions. But I also believe with face to face crimes there are much easier ways to defend yourself when it comes to the interaction between the offender and victim.
