In the cybersecurity field it is crucial that we have a solid cyber-policy.  The cyber-policy or infrastructure is helpful for many organizations and businesses. But as time changes and technology is improving and advancing it we have developed predictive knowledge. The predictive knowledge using “short arm” is a viewpoint where they estimate or predict because you never truly know when or what the new/improved technology will do. So these new policies and infrastructures are more to say adapting and improving with the trend or the technology. This also means the policies and infrastructures must be constantly monitored and evaluated. Having said that, cyber policy and infrastructure play two different roles.

Cyber-policy is a document that defines the organization or business statement of intent, principles and approaches to make certain its effective management of cybersecurity risks in pursuit of its strategic objectives (Gartner). Now when understanding cyber infrastructure it’s a little different. According to the NSF, “cyber infrastructure combines computing, information management, networking and. intelligent sensing systems into powerful tools for. investigating the natural world and the human- built environment” (Garcia and Winograd). So when looking at how they intertwine, cyber policy sets the standards of the policy and cyber infrastructure does maintenance on the policy. An example of the cyber infrastructure doing maintenance would be updating the policy.

So when looking at how we should approach the development of cyber-policy and -infrastructure given the “short arm” of predictive knowledge. I believe that we should focus on keeping up with technology and try to find a pattern of how technology is improving. Doing this could help develop a way or at least a little bit better way of knowing how we should improve the infrastructure and then finalize the policy. However, this is somewhat the same as what we have now. But I believe we can improve in a better way by just predicting what’s going to happen next with new technology.
