When reviewing Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs can relate to technology in multiple ways. To start off with the bottom of the pyramid which is physiological needs. From personal experience, physiological needs could be related to technology by having the feeling of anger or anxiety when I lost my phone.

The next step up the Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs pyramid would be safety needs. When you put the term technology, it can relate to internet Safety. For example, if your phone was to get hacked because you didn’t have software that could protect you from the hack. It would cause most people discomfort.

Now when looking at what comes after Safety needs it gets a little tricky. Reason for that is because the next two on the Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs pyramid are psychological needs. The next two are named Belongingness and love needs and Esteem needs. Belongingness and love needs can relate to technology and a couple of ways. For example, someone could feel belongingness if they were to have multiple friends on social media. With that being said, it can also give you the feeling of being accomplished which is related to Esteem needs.

Lastly on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs pyramid is Self-actualization. Self-actualization is when a person has or is achieving their full potential, including creative activities. So when seeing how this could be related to technology it can also be a little tricky. But from my experiences with technology, I believe that Self-actualization can be related to technology by a person being fully aware of their technology hygiene. Meaning being safe on the internet and keeping their software up to date. Self- actualization also could be related to technology by a person becoming a social media influencer. With that being said, that is how technology can relate to Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs pyramid.
