1. How can you tell if your computer is safe?
While having a computer is fun and very useful a person alway has to do it safely. It can be pretty tricky to tell if your computer is safe or not but there are plenty of ways to check. Even if you’re not an IT person you could help ensure your computer is safe or at least know if not. One of the easy ways I would suggest to start off is having good cyber hygiene.
Cyber hygiene is keeping your device and system up to date with updates, maintaining/having softwares and firewalls installed on your computer or device to help protect you from cyber threats, and going on to safe websites. So when doing good cyber hygiene it can help keep your computer safe at all times on your side. Meaning you won’t be the cause of the cyber attack if your computer was hacked.
Another way to check if your computer is safe is by doing weekly check-ins on your computer. This means looking thoroughly at your files and checking them and seeing if they have been tampered or not. If your files have been tampered with it is likely you have become a victim of a cyber attack. This is also why you should always have a backup on all your important files stored somewhere just in case you fall victim of a cyber attack. When this happens you should take your computer to an IT place that specializes in hacked computers so they can help you recover your data.
Having said that, these are ways I make sure my computer is safe at all times. Ever since I have practiced good cyber hygiene I haven’t run into any problems with my computer or any devices being hacked in some way. The reason I do all of these things to make sure my computer is safe is because it helps me know I did the best I can to protect my computer. Because at the end of the day nothing keeps your computer 100% safe from cyber attacks.
