Engineers have one of the most important jobs when it comes to keeping networks safer. So when discussing how engineers keep networks safe I’m going to stay more focused on network engineers. A network engineer is someone who specializes in maintaining, designing, and troubleshooting technological devices (Joshi). According to EMERITUS, “Their tasks include configuring and maintaining network hardware and software, ensuring network security and integrity, monitoring network performance, and troubleshooting network issues” (Joshi).

So when understanding what a networking engineer does you can see how they work into your everyday lives without evening knowing. An example of this would be looking at an iPhone sending you notification to update your iPhone to the newest update. The reason why you’re receiving the notification for the update is because the engineer who works for Apple has figured out another way to maintain the device well being of the iPhone and saw where it could be improved. Apple often does this to help insure your safety when accessing networks.

Another way that networking engineers can make networks safe is by monitoring them. Engineers can use this technique to analyze how a network has gotten weaker because of the new development of attacks hackers use. So when engineers take the data they have gathered from the ways hackers are hacking the network they can develop a new system that can help prevent the network from getting hacked. But as hackers find new ways to get into the network engineers have to monitor the network and develop new ways to stop them from getting into the network. It’s basically a never ending cycle.

Having said that, engineers have one of the biggest and most important jobs when it comes to technology. As they guide us to being safe online and ensuring safety. That is how engineers make networks and systems safer.
