- What is design thinking?
Design thinking is a new, alternative way of thinking about complex questions and challenges people to think outside of the box, but within realistic expectations to solve a problem. This way of thinking has encouraged a variety of conversations between professionals to think of new conclusions for a problem. Design thinking takes into account all angles and perspectives from both sides of the question. The design thinking framework has 5 steps to follow to come to a conclusion. 1. Understand 2. Ideate or brainstorm. 3. Select the best ideas or possible solutions. 4. Prototype or create a sample of your product or design. 5. Validate and test your product. - How has design thinking influenced a product I use?
Design thinking has influenced many products I have used. I think design thinking in changing how people work and operate to make tasks easier. Such as getting your groceries picked up from the store and delivered to your house for you. This design alone has saved many busy people so much time by eliminating one of the essential tasks but might be out of the way. This can also be said with the app DoorDash, which I am an avid user of, for having food delivered to your door from anywhere. Along with making tasks easier, the results of design thinking ideas have led to more job opportunities too. - What are the connections between opportunities and planning?
From the learning so far, the connections between opportunities and planning in entrepreneurship go hand in hand. Like the example given in the module, if you do not plan accordingly and have your plans organized you could miss the change in market and lose the opportunities for purchases or even investments in your company. In order to be successful in your opportunities, you must be strategic in how you plan your presentation and your product. - What opportunities have I missed?
After watching and listening to the module, I feel like I have personally missed some opportunities to better myself. I have often given up on a problem or a situation when I have run into a situation that seems too difficult or like too much work, but that also comes with me not being prepared. I have missed opportunities to join clubs in school and missed opportunities to even gain college credits in high school when I had the chance because of poor planning and organization. I feel like knowing how to organize my time and my ideas in a better way will help me gain more opportunities in the future. - Can a successful venture be unethical?
I think that a successful venture can be considered unethical based on whom the venture or idea is affecting. If the focus is specifically on one group of people and one problem and does not affect in any way the world around them, then this could be considered unethical to some but also successful to the people who have done it. The venture that is also seen as successful could have been pushed towards that success by unethical actions in the past. Such as, if someone were to start a business with a partner but then steal all of their ideas from their business partner and kick them out, taking all of the success and fame for themselves. Even though from the outside, the venture was successful, the journey to get to that success was unethical.
