After watching this video it was easy to see that the career of Digital Forensics Investigators is more than solving crimes, its more complicated and intricate than that. Digital Forensics surprised me by how it mixes in with everyday life and interactions, from something as small as cyber bullying to fraud, or even large transaction crimes. I enjoyed how David Teo (the TED Talk Speaker in this video) broke down his professional journey, starting in the tremendously exciting world of accounting (ha) and then his adaptable shift into Digital Forensics. Something about this kind of solidifies the concept for me that no matter where you are, you can find connecting paths to cybersecurity careers, which is reassuring. I also enjoyed how the speaker elaborated on how his role forces him to take on a more interdisciplinary approach to his everyday life in the role of Digital Forensics Investigator. Thats something I am piecing together as I work my way through this class is that all of these careers in cybersecurity really need a interdisciplinary approach to truly be successful. Thats why the social sciences are so easily woven into the daily lives of people in these careers.
