Cyber technology has a big impact on the interactions between offenders and victims. Cyber crime has only advanced the minds of both offenders and victims. Crime has always been committed face to face. For example, getting robbed and jumped for your money or the expensive shoe you have on can leave you shook and traumatized. The offender is going to walk away feeling like a god, while you are scared and wondering what to do next. Introducing technology into the mix can only make things better right? Wrong. Cyber criminals can cause just as much damage as the in person offenders. Everything is just easier on line because online you can’t match a face to a name or anything to find the person who made you a victim to cyber crime. If a cyber criminal stole stuff from your company it would probably have the same effect as it would if he robbed you in person. Since Covid has basically taken over our lives we spend a lot of time on our devices, this gives more time to learn about the new things that can be done online. During the global pandemic, people with mental illnesses may have difficulty resorting to their usual coping mechanisms to deal with cybercrimes. This situation is due to factors such as social isolation and daily routine changes. One way to improve cyber security is to teach people so they know what to look for to not fall victim to cybercrimes. If they do, they can recognize it fast and put a stop to it.
