Cybercrime Analyst

Introduction about Cyber crime and Cybercrime Analyst

For the career paper I have chosen the job role of a Cyber Crime Analyst. I will be explaining what cyber crime is in general and then a little bit about a cyber crime analyst. The term Cybercrime by itself is using a computer and using it to do illegal things such as steal peoples identity, committing fraud, and hacking. Let’s talk about what a cyber crime analyst is. A cyber crime analyst is a person who stops and counter cyber criminals when they commit cyber crimes. They also collect information about the crime that was committed and then also try to collect enough information to try to get to the person who has committed the crime.

Complexities and interdependencies between social science and Cybersecurity

The different social science principles are relativism, objectivity, parsimony, ethical neutrality, and determinism. There are complexities and interdependence between social science principles and cybersecurity. It is the understanding of human behavior and user awareness. There is more as well but these aspects contribute to the effective protection of computer systems, networks, and data from cyber threats.

Social Science Principles

There are three social science principles that I think that relate to a cyber crime analyst. The first principle I think that is related to a cyber crime analyst is relativism. The reason I think relativism is related to a cyber crime analyst is because in relativism it talks about cyber security having relationships with technology. It mentions how the system is driven by technology nowadays. The second principle that I think relates to a cyber crime analyst is objectivity. The reason I think objectivity is related to this job field is because in the description of objectivity it mentions the question how hackers should be punished and in cyber crime as an analyst they stop hackers and other crimes that occur on the internet. The third principle that I think relates to a cybercrime analyst is ethical neutrality. It is explained in Ethical Neutrality that protects the rights of the people and studying the opportunities for exploring the ethical issues. Ethical issues include limiting internet access to reduce cyber crime and then having police on technology to track human behavior.

Concepts in class related to career

Some concepts that I think relate to the career are module 2, module 5, module 6, and module 12. Module 2 talks about studying the social science principles on cyber security. Module 5 talks about cyber offending and victimization. Module 6 talks about cyber security and Module 12 talks about cyber security as a crime. All these topics in my opinion have a relation to the career of a cybercrime analyst.

Daily Routine

A cybercrime analyst’s daily routine is monitoring for security breaches, investigating cyber attacks that happened and then writing reports. Cybercrime analysts also do penetration testing and installing software.  Cyber crime analysts also help protect from unauthorized access. This is the daily routine that the cybercrime analysts do.

Marginalized groups and interaction with society

In the job role of a cyber crime analyst the groups of people that are usually involved are all people because people are on the internet everyday. The internet is full of problems and most crimes do happen online on the internet. So in that case when crimes happen on the internet cyber crime analysts come in handy. They help the public out and investigate crime that has happened online. Cyber crime analysts interact with the public to basically be there and help figure who is behind the crime and what happened as well.
